Florence Pugh and Al Pacino are not known to be related, romantically involved, or regular collaborators. Their documented connection is mainly through Hollywood awards season and television appearances, including the same Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode in 2020 and the 2024 Academy Awards, where Pacino announced Oppenheimer, which featured Pugh, as Best Picture.
As of September 23, 2026, their public acting filmographies do not show a scripted movie or television drama in which they have acted together. Their names nevertheless appear together surprisingly often because several major industry events have placed them in the same context.
What Connects Florence Pugh and Al Pacino?
The clearest connection between Florence Pugh and Al Pacino is professional rather than personal. They belong to very different generations of actors, but their careers crossed publicly during the 2019-2020 awards season and again at the 2024 Oscars.
Three documented moments explain most searches for the pair:
| Date | Florence Pugh and Al Pacino connection |
|---|---|
| January 16, 2020 | Both appeared as celebrity guests on the same episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! |
| February 2020 | Both were Academy Award and BAFTA nominees for supporting performances |
| March 10, 2024 | Pacino presented Best Picture to Oppenheimer, a film starring Pugh as Jean Tatlock |
These are genuine public connections, but none establishes a family relationship, romance, or recurring acting partnership.
Their 2020 Jimmy Kimmel Live Appearance
One important reason searches combine Florence Pugh and Al Pacino is a January 16, 2020 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
ABC’s official schedule listed Pacino as a guest representing The Irishman and Pugh as a guest for Little Women. Nicky Jam and Daddy Yankee were the musical guests.
The episode is also catalogued under both actors’ names, which can make it appear in search engines as though they were promoting a shared project. They were not. Pacino was there during the awards campaign for Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, while Pugh was receiving attention for Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.
ABC later rebroadcast the episode, again listing both stars together.
That television appearance is therefore a real connection between them, but it should not be confused with a joint film.
Florence Pugh and Al Pacino Were Both Oscar Nominees in 2020
Their careers also intersected prominently at the 92nd Academy Awards.
Al Pacino received a Best Supporting Actor nomination for playing labor leader Jimmy Hoffa in The Irishman. Florence Pugh received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance as Amy March in Little Women. The Academy’s official record confirms both nominations.
Neither won that year. Brad Pitt won Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, while Laura Dern won Supporting Actress for Marriage Story.
The same pattern occurred at the 2020 BAFTA Film Awards. Pacino was nominated in Supporting Actor for The Irishman, while Pugh was nominated in Supporting Actress for Little Women.
This shared awards season helps explain why archived entertainment pages, award databases and television listings frequently associate their names.

The Oppenheimer Connection at the 2024 Oscars
The most notable later connection came at the 96th Academy Awards on March 10, 2024.
Florence Pugh played psychiatrist and political activist Jean Tatlock in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. NBCUniversal’s official material identifies Pugh as part of the film’s principal cast alongside Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon.
At the Oscars, Al Pacino was chosen to present the final award of the evening, Best Picture. He announced Oppenheimer as the winner, with producers Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan receiving the Academy Award. The Academy’s records confirm Oppenheimer as the Best Picture winner.
Pugh was not individually awarded the Best Picture Oscar because that award goes to a film’s designated producers. She was, however, a major cast member of the winning film.
Event photography from the ceremony shows Pugh and Pacino onstage as part of the broader Oppenheimer celebration with Nolan, Thomas, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. and other members of the team.
Did Al Pacino Give Florence Pugh an Oscar?
No. Pacino presented the Best Picture award to Oppenheimer, but the actual Best Picture Oscars went to producers Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.
Florence Pugh was part of the cast, not one of the credited Best Picture recipients.
That distinction matters because photographs of Pugh, Pacino and the Oppenheimer team together after the announcement can otherwise create the impression that Pacino personally presented an award to her.
Have Florence Pugh and Al Pacino Made a Movie Together?
As of September 23, 2026, there is no shared scripted acting credit between Pugh and Pacino in their publicly listed filmographies. Their common television credit is their appearance as themselves on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, rather than a fictional project.
This rules out several possible misunderstandings.
Pugh was not in The Irishman, The Godfather, Scarface, Heat or Pacino’s other major films. Pacino was not in Midsommar, Little Women, Black Widow, Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two or Pugh’s other best-known films.
Their connection is therefore better described as overlapping industry appearances rather than a co-starring relationship.
Who Is Florence Pugh?
Florence Pugh was born on January 3, 1996, in Oxford, England. Her first professional screen role came in Carol Morley’s The Falling, after which her performance in Lady Macbeth helped establish her as one of Britain’s most closely watched young actors. BAFTA selected her as a Breakthrough Brit early in her career.
Her international breakthrough accelerated in 2019 through three very different performances: professional wrestler Paige in Fighting with My Family, Dani in Ari Aster’s Midsommar, and Amy March in Little Women. Her work as Amy earned her the 2020 Academy Award nomination.
She later expanded into large-scale films through Marvel’s Black Widow, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two.
As of September 2026, one of Pugh’s major upcoming releases is Netflix’s seven-episode adaptation of John Steinbeck’s East of Eden. She plays Cathy Ames, with Netflix scheduling all seven episodes to begin streaming globally on October 1, 2026.
Who Is Al Pacino?

His later career produced major roles in films including Scarface, Glengarry Glen Ross, Carlito’s Way, Heat, Donnie Brasco, The Insider and The Irishman. Pacino won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Scent of a Woman and has received numerous additional Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe honors.
His career spans film, television, directing and extensive stage work. Pacino also published his memoir Sonny Boy, covering his upbringing, acting career and major creative relationships.
Why Their Careers Make an Interesting Comparison
Pugh and Pacino represent substantially different periods of modern filmmaking.
Pacino’s rise occurred during the American New Hollywood era, when character-driven crime dramas and filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola and Sidney Lumet reshaped mainstream cinema. Michael Corleone in The Godfather became one of his defining performances.
Pugh emerged in a much more fragmented entertainment environment. Her career has moved between British independent cinema, psychological horror, prestige historical drama, streaming television and billion-dollar franchise filmmaking.
Despite that generational difference, both reached unusually high levels of awards recognition for supporting performances during the same 2019 film season. That convergence is what initially brought their names into many of the same award databases and entertainment programs.
